So today I was surfing and walked up the beach to find a 5" long horn just sitting there. He has severe damage to his fins and some sort of bleeding/swelling on his gills on one side. What do I need to do?

Do you have a marine centre of any sort close to you?

Do you mean the gills are bleeding?

I would personally either notify a marine care center or leave it for mother nature to take it's course and play it's part in the circle of life.

Lol this is vietnam care for mother nature 1) doesn't exist and 2) no-one has the money to volunteer and earn so little money. The gills aren't bleeding just swollen and red the dorsal fins and pectoral fins are ripped to shreds though. This poor thing has been through 2-3m storm surf.I have no worries if mother nature takes its course then obviously it was its time but if I can help I will. Going to bed now which leave it with around 12 hours with no attention to recover. The poor thing first got put in the grouper tank by my staff lol the grouper are around a foot and a bit long....

Hows the fish?

Dead as the dodo now which is a shame I wanted a longhorn for my reef strange co-incidence. Now I have a puffer though that's washed up its markings are really really faint so think its a porcupine fish but not sure its in a little better shape.

Bless Him.
R.I.P.

Thanks for the update.

That is a shame - but now a puffer has washed up! Do you get many fish wash up on the shore, or do you think something is happening?

I love porkys, how about a photo?

PS are you running carbon in your tank with the groupers - longhorns sometimes release a toxin when they die

Tanks aren't linked, this is in a restaurant tank so simply designed to keep it alive not for it to actually do well in. Its sea water with an airpump but its the best I have....

Its monsoon season, the fish are washing up because the seas are very strong atm, so its suspected the weak will wash up however who really knows it is also an el nina year...

Both died. I walked up the beach yesterday and must of seen around 4 porkies 6 longhorns and a couple of other fish which were a bit too decomposed to recognise.
