marimo/moss balls

I just got myself a couple of marimo balls. I want to put them in my tanks, but I'm wondering if the ottos and/or shrimps will eat them, since they're algae?

No, they won't eat them. Shrimps like to forage in them for food (it's detritus magnet). With an intense light, you can watch the marimo balls float (sometimes taking shrimp for a ride!).
