I have 2 moss balls and personally i love them, my fry, shrimp and corys love them.
I dont see why they should float but if they do i was told to squeeze them under water and they should sink back to bottom of tank.
And they do lower ammonia levels, cos my ammonia levels have been lower since i added them into my tank and ammonia is fish waste and plants seem to use it up.

not sure if you have any fish in there but make sure you are doing 50% daily water changes to help dilute the ammonia.
it should be undetectable at all times on a mature tank.

Yes i have fish in my tank and i dont see why i should be doing water changes daily cos the water is fine now, before i added the moss balls i was really mis informed and it was yrs ago (in my dads tank) but they do keep the ammonia levels constant, and i love the look of them now hve 4 and getting more

:good:
just that like you were misinformed, so others may have been too or dont even realise how toxic ammonia is which is why i aways ask.

So you dont think that the ammonia levels dropping were anything to do with the bacteria colony in the tank growing then?
Yes plants do take up ammonia but the slower they grow the less they'll remove, i really cant see a couple of moss calls making any noticeable difference what so ever.
