I'm trying to cure an outbreak of columnaris spots in my tank, a few of my tetra and one danio have white spots on their lips which I have been told is columnaris after identifying it with a picture of someone else's fish that looked the same.

I've been treating with myxazin and pimafix for 15 days now, the lumps seem to get bigger....then smaller....then bigger....etc...
but no real improvement has been seen.

I've heard maracyn can help wonders....but I can't find it anywhere to buy.....does anyone know of any websites I can get it from?

Or failing that has anyone successfully treated columnaris lumps, if so how.....and how long did it take?

I THINK that you can get it (or a form of it) only from vets in the UK. Let me have a look.....

EDIT:

Wolf seems to incinuate here that its USA.

Have a look on ebay. Can't see any UK sellers right now, but there are some US sellers who will ship to the UK. May be better off if you buy in bulk and then resell them here to make it worth your while.

As an aside, has anyone else noticed a small pick up in the number of columnaris diags recently? I thought I read somewhere about a strain somewhere in the US that had become resistant to traditional antibiotics and remedies. Can't remember where I read it.

Yeah I think maybe going to the vets for something like tetracycline would be a good idea...
