Manic Zebras!

Today I bought some zebra and leopard danios, well I had read that they were active fish but blimey they are manic

They have certainly livened up the tank and are charging up and down in a shoal accompanied by the lemon and black neon tetras even the corys are joining in, the skirt tetras try to join in but are only half way up the tank when the other crowd are on their way back

Presumeably they are in the 4-foot tank? Good to know that some keepers of these fish have them in a suitable size tank for their active nature, despite their size!

Yes they are in my 4ft, I only wish I had the room for a 6ft. I do have a conservatory with a solid roof where a 6ft would fit but dont know if the tank would cope with winter temperatures out there

Urmmmmmmmm I have just noticed a couple of the zebras doing what I assume is spawning They have only been in the tank a few hours!
A couple of them chasing each other round then diving into the plants writhing round each other for a bit then out again......or is this just normal zebra behaviour

They are supposed to be prolific breeders so it could just be...

Sounds like spawning to me! Probably the change in water temp and consistancy thats bought it on. I had them spawn in my tank - watch out for the fry which are so very tiny ! You will see them stuck to the tank walls - they look like very fine glass hairs!

Agree. I got a group of 10 knowing they would draw more activity out of the rest of my fish. They really do never stop moving. Mine don't always stay in a tight group, they seem to do more of a 6-2-2 formation. The pairs are usually chasing each other in and out of caves and in really fast circles.
