Mama Platy Gives Birth

my first platy i bought that gave me my first fry has given birth again. she had 21 fry 20 survived and mom ate 1. it was the frys fault because i had them in the breeding trap and he decided to swim back up with mom. just thought i would share the good news.

the mama is a yellowish orange with a black spot on the end of her tail.

That sounds great Ewooten.
Have a close look at that dark spot on the tail. If it looks sort of like a mickey mouse caricature laid on its side, the fish color would be known as a mickey mouse platy. That will give you a quick reference for the color pattern if anyone asks.

Has just a small black spot looks nothing like a mickey mouse.

Some of the other common shapes are called twin bar or even wag tail. In a wag, the color pattern is a solid colored body that6 is given the primary name such as red etc,. By saying red wag we mean a fish that is red but has a black solid tail. A gold wag would have a gold body with that same black tail, etc. A twin bar is a fish that has a thin stripe of black color along the top and bottom edge of the caudal peduncle. A wag is a fish with a solid black tail and has the stated color as its main body color, hence red wags and green wags have red or green bodies.
