Male Swordtail With Belly Like Female

Hi

My male lyratail swordtail have the belly like me female swordtale, they both look like they're gonna explote, and another male that i bought thinking it was a female is now hidding behind the filter an seen like he is gonna die .

They were fine this afternoon, today i introduce 5 chinese algae eaters thinking they were otos, the CAE are little 1-2 inch most. Don't know if this matters but just in case.

The fish in the foreground is a female lyretail swordtail.
Male lyretails cant breed as the gonopodium is elongated and cant be used to mate with. So what you want to look for is a male from the same batch that has short fins.
He should be carrying the lyretail gene if he's related them the other's.

If not any fry will have the gene and a short fined male should be used to breed back.

As mentioned the fish is a female lyre-tail which means she will be pregnant with a belly like that.

Don't let the extended first ray of the anal fin throw you off. The triangular anal fin that is apparent behind that first ray screams female to those of us more familiar with the hifin/lyretail varieties.
