Male Or Female?

Hi all,

May sound like a silly question but would you say this betta is male or female? (Sorry for the poor pic quality)

Will explain all!

pk male because he has slightly longer fins than a female and when he flares the flare gose all the way under his mouth but if it was a female the flare would only be oon the side.

Agree with above^ Wow yes a spade tail too (there quite rare) pip on this site has a goergeous spade tail too!

Haha OK so five out of five so far...!

Flipping Pets at Home sold us two as 'females' one of them mysteriously died while we were out at work in the first few days and the second one (pictured) seems to have blossomed over the past 6 months - at first we thought the food 'she' was on was doing the trick but I have been increasingly suspicious that 'her' finnage is just a bit too impressive!!??

We have just bought a definite male and were thinking of conditioning them but errr... don't think I will bother now!!!!

if you do decide to breed him , you'd need a VT or spade tail female - otherwise you could have RUNTY tailed fry that you couldnt get rid of

Will keep that in mind thanks very much for the advice and nice comments!! Think he needs re-naming... 'violet' doesn't quite sit the same anymore!!!
