Usually my male molly (wally) is quiet calm.

But at feeding time he gets aggressive, but only towards the female molly in the tank with him.

(If you have read my other post you'll see I currently have a white female molly, who is called Pearl, she is very ill and has also just given birth. This post is Not about Pearl. I refer to my other female molly, who is black and from what I can tell is healthy)

Wally has never been aggressive with pearl but has always been aggressive with Molly (black female) at feed time.

He chases her and rams right into her, preventing her from eating much.

For the last few days I have kept him seperate at meal time so that Molly has a chance to eat, but as soon as I join him back in with her he goes right for her.

Is this normal?

Will this be causing Molly any stress?

Thank you.

Could you maybe up the numbers of females to diffuse the aggression? I'd imagine the lone female getting attacked will be quite stressed out by this, I haven't kept mollies before although I plan on getting some so can't say if this is normal.

I do have a second female named pearl, who I purchased a couple of weeks after I had purchased my first two, But she is in a quarantine tank at the moment. But even when she was in the main tank he still made a b-line for the other female, never bothered pearl. He wasn't this way when I first got him.

I am reluctant to get any more Mollies as I have been advised that they need quite a lot of space and so I don't want to over stock my tank.
