Hi

I have a male guppy that insists on mating with one of my female swords? I have heard of guppies and mollies, BUT swords?

They will try this on with most given a chance, even none livebearers.

However just coz their trying dose not mean their be any resulting fry, guppies and swordtails are geneticaly very different, so your never get ant viable fry from them.

actually..... i went to a petstore and i saw some older fry that were in the shape of guppies but had the color of pineapple swords. and others even looked like swords with guppy tails... i believe they were the result of guppies and swords breeding, so i'm thinking it might be possible. might be interesting to try!

They can cross breed, that your seeing is just different types of guppies and swords, there are many tail and fin types or each species and seeing guppies with swords are bnow very common. and the swords u saw are just long fine or lyretail.
