Male Guppies

hi, thinking of getting some guppies and wondeering if they would breed if i have more than one male

How many Guppies were you thinking of keeping?
Keeping one male with several females would be absolutely fine and there would be no problem with breeding.
The only thing to worry about is when the fry are born as they are more than likely to get eaten if not seperated or if they have nowhere to hide.

One is all you need and in actuallity, for a while, you most likely don't even need one. Females can store sperm for a short period of time and will continue to have fry on a regular basis for up to several months after being in a tank with a male. Usually, it is advised to keep 1 male to 2 females in order to keep the male from harassing a single female to death. You could get by with one male for a few females.

i was thinking of having a lttle breeding project with my bns and guppies in the same tank witha bredding trap

thar would be
2 male bns
2 female bns
1 male guppy
5-6 female gupppies

i liked the blue tailed ones dont know what the name was for the life of me though

Yep, this would work fine provided the tank was big enough. I should tell you though that having a single breeding trap will not allow you to raise the fry. If you want to raise the fry you need to be prepared for a full breeding setup of three or four more tanks. A female can produce thirty fry a month, easily, if she is fed properly. That's 180 fry a month, every month. You'd be lucky to raise four or five fry in a trap. They are really only good for separating the females to give birth.

Also with livebearers, you have to watch because they are mature at a very young age and aren't picky about their partners - if you don't separate the genders very quickly then you could end up with lots of inbreeds and teenage mums. They are very nice fish to keep though.

no i will probs just sell the lil ones and the rap is quite large so i will used it for the pleco fry the tank will just have many guppies
