Male Guppies - Kissing !

It appears the 2 males have already mated with the 5 females, i dont need to seperate them, they have already done the deed it appears, although they look like they want more  :hey: Is this normal? once they have inpregnated a female, will they still keep mating with her?

Yep. They eat, sleep, and try to mate...that's their life. :p

Your females all sound pregnant, so they will be secreting a pregnancy hormone the males like, which will make them bug her even more. However, they will get incresingly more annoying as the females get closer to giving birth, because they'll try to stress her out into aborting fry so they can have a tasty snack. Some fathers have no sense of parenting....

Oh dear, that not good.... :-( I hear that this can happen though, i will keep my eye on them.

They have also started doing this other thing, which is quite amusing, i call it a dance, they stay really still in 1 place, and bend there bodies, and shake there tails, its really funny, i suppose this is like a mating ritual ?

Yep. They are trying to mate. :)

What are you planning to do with the fry, survival of the fittest or raising them?

Survivial of the fittest im afraid, it will be my first fry, so im going to let nature take its course, and see what happens... :D Hopefully some may survive, but we'll see, with the Danios in there and my Gourami i doubt it very much, and thats if the parents dont eat them first... :(

Yeah, with the Danios and Gouramis, I would not expect too many fry. However, if you give them some floating plants they'll have a better chance. Also, caves and lots of thick plants are good. By thick I mean plants with intertwining leaves they can hide in, not like an Amazon Sword which offers no real protection.

Good luck with the babies! I'm sure you'll enjoy them, if any survive. :D

It sounds like they are evenly matched and neither one is going to back down, but they are also unsure how far they can push each other. As soon as one gains the upper hand it will hound the other one to make sure it knows who is boss. :grr:

My baby mollies do it, it is a pecking order thing. Sometimes it seems almost like spawning, you may see more aggression as they get older...mine are more aggressive about 'kissing' now, at two months+
