His tail is shorter then before. He is supposed to be a male but tail is as long as a female's. What happened to it? Is this normal?

Odd. Does it look ragged? Can u post a picture? I've heard of betta nipping their own tail. Then there is fin rot and physical damage from other tankmates or sharp objects in the tank...

sounds like he is biting his tail or someone else is. Please post a piccie so we can help...xx

Sorry can't get a picture posted at this time. I should have kept a closer eye but he kind of looks peekid as well. He is alone, no tank mates. Also noted he hasn't been eating very well over the last few days. Last night I gave him some fungus eliminator which is for fin rot as well. He was at the bottom yesterday, today he is up on top, but just sits there.
He's my sickly fish, was sickly soon after I bought him. I've had him for 2 years or more. More than once in the past he looked like a total goner but came back to life. I will keep a closer eye on him. He looks so strange without a tail. Maybe he feels strange because of it. Only once did I see his tail in full length fanned out in all it's glory. Most of the time it looked ragged and I've noticed it getting shorter and shorter before.

Thanks guys

The first rule of medication is dont medicate until a problem has been identified. Using the wrong medication can actually make the problem worse:(

What are his tank stats? Size, filtered, temperature, ammonia, nitrItes etc etc
