So my male has been building a huge bubble nest today in the frogbit - he's been building it since about 7.30 this morning

so some questions -
he is chasing everyone away from the nest now so have i missed the female depositing eggs ?
Do they keep building the nest after eggs have been deposited?
Does a female deposit eggs right away ?

I think adding the 3rd female got him all worked up - i added her on sunday

well answered my own question lol
male has taken 2 females to the nest so far and done the deed - ITS AMAZING !!!
i love the mating dance its very similar to wcminnows the way they curve their bodies around each other , but looks so good with the larger fish .

King is now chasing the new lady and flaring his fins to her so maybe she'll be next in the nest

I would take out the females now since he has babies to protect. Kinda weird that he would take 2 different females under there. Bettas often mate more than once at a time, but usually w/ just 1 female. But now any fish that comes too close will be attacked (fairly viciously).

can't take the females out they are in a community tank , it's a 180 litre with lots of plants and hiding spaces so as long as fish arent comming right into the nest so he can see them he isnt bothering with them too much

He has now increased the size of the nest and is breeding with all 3 females - all of them are different thats how i can tell, 1 silver , 1 powder blue and 1 powder blue with a damaged fin

Congratulations.

What are those palnts?

Amazon frogbit they love it ;)

Have now managed to float the whole nest into a baby net - the one with the superfine netting - not a plastic trap
i use these for my minnow fry so should be ok for gourami fry

King is now building a new nest :) so i will leave that one in the tank , and see wether i get babies from either nest
