Hello folks i have a well planted 10 gallon aquarium. It has a eheim ecco 130 filter, could i keep 1 male siamese fighter with 3 females. Also would the water flow be to much for the Bettas.

Cheers hixy

in a 10 gal, i wouldn't even consider mixing a male with females. Stick to 1 male or 4-6 females.

Thank you both for replys.Do you not keep males with females because the male will bully the females.

Because the male will kill the females OR the females will kill the male.

You could go for a male with a few tank mates or like myself and Beth said a sorority tank (well planted).

As per usual, I'm going to disagree with the above.

It IS possible to have males in with females. BUT, and it's a very serious but. It appears to be purely down to the temperament and personality of all of the fish involved.

I have 2 betta, one will flare constantly and bully any other fish in his tank, the other is a softy and has spent the last week maybe 2 weeks living with my quietest female. The girl had her tail fin nipped once, but it healed within a day and a half, they seem to spend most of their time playing amongst the floating plants.

So, to conclude what I said above. You can keep a male in with females, but you need a very gentle male, and gentle females, and a tank with a lot of places to hide so they can get away from eachother if they want to. And have a backup plan incase you have to remove one.

Not in a 10 gal, you can't!!

I had a male in with females in a 125ltr, after many days of prepping. I would never consider mixing both sexes in a 10 gal, too small.

My male is in with a female, the tank is just under 60 litre. whats that in gallons?

edit, about 13 gallons.

And when it comes to fish, never say never.

I had a male and female in an 8 gallon and they bred happily and lived a long happy life together with a few Red Clawed Crabs and a couple of Guppies. So it is possible and depends on their temperament as my male I have now killed an adult Platty recently but wont touch its fry.
