So three days ago or so I put my delta male and half moon female in my breeder, the female had bars and my male made a bubble near, although, they do not seem all that "in the mood" my male seems to have put my female in the friend zone! They are just kind of hanging out, relatively uninterested in each other. Weird right?

uh oh, can i ask what your experience of bettas and breeding them is?, you are aware they will now probably rip each other to peices

I have bred a few pairs. And I have a few very aggressive males that will go after my females and rip fins, but this male has really no interest in her. He is a pretty laid back fish to begin with.

then your very lucky to find a male like that, breeding bettas is not for the faint hearted, too many casualties

OK, what did you do to condition them for breeding? You can't just put them together and hope they'll breed :/

I have seen first hand and heard of other male fighters that show no interest in females either to breed or just attack for the hell of it. But sadly this scenerio doesn't always last, with the male suddenly deciding one dyay out of the blue that he is going to rip the female to shreds or vis versa.
If the tank is large and there is plenty of tall plant life (and possibly other fish species to interact with the fighters thus distracting them) that can hide the fighters from view of each other all the time so they aren't constantly seeing each other and if there is aggression one can go hide eaisly then the mix can work for longer than expected. But always be aware the change in character can happen suddenly and you may have little or no time to seperate them before real damage is done.

Have you any backing on your tank? My male never did the deed with backing on the tank, he could see his reflection and the thought of there being another male in the area put him off. I took the backing off and ,literaly, they were straight on with the job.
Some placid males will live with females for a while, but as baccus says they will suddenly turn. I had a male imposter in my sorority who was fine for 3 or 4 months then one day he just ripped the face off my best breeding girl. Up until that point I still thought it was a female.
