Malaysian Trumpet Snails Breeding Tank

I have just got 50 Malaysian Trumpet Snails (all different sizes) and I have put them in a 15 Litre tank with a heater in and sand substrate. I used tap water (+ Seachem Prime) rather than take water from my main tank because it is currently going through another cycle after I added a new filter. I added the snails to the tank but I've noticed that some of the snails are crawling out of the water which I believe is a sign of poor water quality but I can't see how when the water is fresh from the tap and been conditioned.
Any advice on this would be helpful because I'm hoping to bread them so I can add them to my main tank eventually

Not that I know of. They don't eat plants just the algae off them. I've just added a very small filter to it to stop the water going stagnant but I can't find the sponge to put inside it

sorry to highjack the thread but I asked at my lfs yesterday about trumpet snails and I think I've been badly misinformed.

I know very little about them other than what they look like and that they are good tank cleaners.

I noticed a few in this tank with some cories so I asked the guy how much they were and explained that I have one solitary one which hitch hiked it's way in with a couple of cories and I was thinking about getting some more.

He didn't know how much they were and then he told me it would be a bad idea to get even one more as I'd end up with millions within a month and they'd decimate my plants in a week.

Can anybody give me some correct information about them please

I have Mts in all my tanks.
They don't eat the plants, nor do they breed as prolifically as other snails.
They spend most of their time burrowing in the sand & come out in th evenings to feed on algae

If the tank has no filter, or if it isn't cycled then the snails are just as susceptible to ammonia poisoning as fish
Do a water change & see if that helps

They are great for airating your substrate to stop the build up of toxins, think of it as doing the same job as cory's. Breed easy but no value if you want to sell, you can normally find people selling 50 for 1-£2.

I have got about 50 in a very small tank on their own with a small filter not heater. They are not as hardy as some people make out though cos the 1st lot I got I just threw them in the tank with no filter or heater not expected them to bread only to find them all dead a few days later. I've put in an algae wafer not a few fish flakes hoping that encourages them to bread abit more

They are pretty tough tho, I did a water change, and by mistake, left one in the bucket I use after I finished. It was still alive and well a week later, despite not being in water!
