IMO it's a bit too small for mbuna and most haps, 4-ft(around 122cm) is the recommended minimum length, some people have gotten away with 3-ft (around 92cm) tanks, but are usually deeper. It would be a great size for Lake Tananikya cichlids though. :good:

Yer i have a tang setup, initially i was looking to upgrade its size. But then i saw the big tanks and thought i might just get a new one altogether.

But yer i think i'll stick to the new tank for the tangs... it does have a good footprint area i must admit.

I do know that I'd like for the Aquarium calculator to be fixed. Otherwise I have to google the comparison size for inches and cm and gallon and imperial gallon :(

40"x14"x22" hmm. that's not far off from the us standard 55 gallon =48 x 13 x 21 (edit) which is 53 usg so you were going by Imperial gallons(end edit)

I'd say sure you could use it as a mbuna tank. What kind of fish do you have in mind?
