hiya i am thinking of setting up a malawi tank but i am wanting some ideas of what to put in it eg rocks gravel or sand ,, can any 1 post some pics so i can get some idea on what to put into my tank ,, thanks ,,

Hiya,

Set up my Malawi tank a wee while ago now - went for a very fine black gravel, and lava rock as it's a lot lighter.

What tank/size do you have?

This is the last picture I took - it's changed since, but only very slightly (and the moss balls are no more - completely ripped to shreds by the fish, but the java fern's doing okay).

that looks brilliant ,, im i think i might do the malawi set up in a 4 ft tank as i am needing the 5 ft tanks for my larger fish ,, ...

i dont know weather to have some whity coloured gravel with some big white rocks all up the back ,, still unsure yett but i must say youres looks great ,,
thanks

Nice setup Sam, I just dont like the yellow lighting.

I think a nice white sand substrate, with round rocks, sorta like nick sw has, is the nicest

I dont know if i would want a malawi setup, I have looked into what they require, but I have not looked at the different types of fish,

WOW all them tanks look great tHANKS GUYS IM WELL JELOUSE,
i need to get some more info on the malawi fish and there set ups ,, any info ppl like there ph andthere ideal temp ,, i need to seriousley look into it first before i try to do it , :)

thanx :D .

the rocks limestone. great for buffering the PH naturally.

also great cos theres fields full of it around my house so it didnt cost a penny. :D :D

EDIT - helps alot that the background happens to match the rocks damn near perfectly.

that was jus luck tho!

lucky man sam ,, i love youre set up sam it looks great with youre little guys in ,,

 thanx again.

aquascaping is probably my favourite part of the hobby.

im in the same situation as you with my 6x2x2 tho i think.

im scraping the money together for the fish but i need something to make some decor out of.

decided i really dont like it, need more rocks, more sand and more fake :)() plants.
