I was wondering how often i could (or should) feed them high protein meaty foods, i know its generally a "no-no" and the most meaty type food they get is the occasional bit of Brine Shrimp or Krill (perhaps about once every 10-14 days)

Obviously blood worm is out of the question

What about the very rare treat of some prawns?

What about such things as beef heart or other meaty things?

Not looking to suddenly feed them like they carnivores just interested, i dont seem to find a heck of a lot on google and that includes doing it for each individual species.

These are the Malawi species i am referring to

Labidochromis Caeruleus
Pseudotropheus Zebra (Blue)
Maylandia Lombardoi Female (Kenyi)
Melanochromis Chipokae
Red Zebra
Aulonocara Calico
Pseudotropheus Acei (yellow fin)
Maylandia Greshakei
Labeotropheus Trewavasae

Thanks

Forget everything except the occasional brine shrimp. Meaty foods can prove fatal to most Mbuna species as the majority are Herbivores and even the Omnivores tend to feed on insects etc - their digestive systems simply cannot process meaty protein.

With the exception of the Aulonocara, who is a Carnivore - you have a mixture of Herbivores and Omnivores. A staple diet of a good spirulina based veggie flake with occasional feedings of brine shrimp or Spirulina enriched brine shrimp will be ideal. :good:
