Any comments or opinions on doing a malachite green dip for my ich-infested fish? This is the second bout of ich in less than a month. Don't know why. I do regular water changes, temperature stays fairly steady, no new fish have been adeed in the last couple weeks. And the fish who had the ich before are the ones who have it again.

Thanks!

doesnt seem to work.
it doenst kill the ich floating in the tank.
Im having the same problem you are, and have no ideas.

It's frustrating, isn't it? My fish had ich for a month and a half, starting in October, I think. I treated with CopperSafe for a month and all that accomplished was killing off some of my Vals, before I removed 'em. Also had the temperature up. The Neons were the only ones showing symptoms - everyone else was fine. I finally took the Neons out, put 'em in a QT tank, and treated 'em with malachite green (half dose). That took care of it. I thought, 'Oh, good, now it's gone, and they should be less likely to get ich now, 'cause once they've had it, they're supposed to be (more?) resistant to it.' Yeah, well, I guess not... :sly: The Rams each have a spot or two of ich this time, but otherwise it's just the Neons again. I like the Neons, but this ich is annoying. Having a planted tank makes it harder to treat, as does having Tetras, Loaches, and Catfish.

Good luck  I'd suggest turning your tank temp up to 86* or so, if your fish can handle it. Perhaps you don't have a heat-resistant strain like I seem to.
