Hello everyone!!! I am almost done with my betta tank! I bleached her tank today and am prepping for sand.  I few more washes of the tank and serious drying.  I have lots of moss around the edge of my house.  Because of the way my house is shaped it has a lot of shady (hehehe ;D ) areas and has moss growing everywhere.  Is it possible for me to put the rocks I am going to use for my betta's tank outside and grow some moss on them? and even put some of the moss on the rock so it can attach?

Also is that even the same kind of moss?

Any help is wanted :)

To answer rapidly: No.
Don't do this.
What you will be putting in your tank will be outside moss, that is growing emersed, once you put it in your tank, it'll die and rot and cause water pollution. That's not mentioning the fact that you will also bring "home" a lot of unwanted bacteria..

What you want is java moss, or any other aquarium moss.
It's not even expensive!

Ok, I'm not sure if my petstores sell it.  I would like some moss, is it a super hard plant to care for?

You can get some Java Moss, most fish shops will carry it as it is super-easy to care for.
You can even check your local craigslist or ads and see if any aquarist sells some, most likely, somebody has a bit too much he's willing to sell or give.

Nope, it's pretty forgiving when it comes to lighting. It does tend to grow like crazy, and can get messy if disturbed too much.
