Making Fish Color Show Better

The most colorful fish are happy and healthy fish. Research any special needs of your specific species of fish. Keep your fish in excellent water conditions and appropriately sized tanks, feed a well balanced diet and they will be beautiful.

**Granted there are exceptions to this, but its a fair general statement.**

yeah i have to agree with third floor. it's not that there's 1 specific food we can tell you it's more about knowing all the requirements for the species you have. if you post a list of what fish you have in your tank, and a picture so we can see the decor then hopefully we can advise you what you can change.

You can feed colour enhancing foods which can help, these foods usually contain a chemical called "astaxanthin".
But feeding live foods help's and doing weekly water changes as well.

How ever the best thing for colour is natural light if they get that for several hours a day then your be amazed... course this dose not help with any algae problems.

2 rosy barbs in a tank at work.
5 cherry barbs
really im the only person who take care of them

Lighting and substrate often comes into it. Personally I think the best look is black gravel and a black backing to your tank, these really show off your fish's colours well. Lighting wise it comes down to colour temperature, wattage and the type of lighting. Have a good read around as there are lots of opinions on correct lighting.

:good:

Colour enhancing fish foods only enhance the reds and black.
