Hi guys, I was considering buying a cichlid salt and trace for my shell dweller tang tank. But ive been reading badmans site and they say you can:

1) raise the ph with bicarb- how much does it raise it, can you overdose?
2) provide trace elements and P with aquarium salt(not marine stuff, the med i think)
3) Harden the water with epsom salts.

All 1tsp per 5 US gal of water.

what do you recKon? seems much cheaper than buying the seachem stuff

I'd be grateful if anyone could help me
thanks
Adam
