Maintaining A Cycle?

Hi. I was wondering how much ammonia I should add and how often I should add it to maintain a cycle. My cycle should be finished in the next week (ammonia 0, nitrite 0.25 at 12 hrs) but I won't be able to buy fish till the 29th June.

Should I carry on adding every 24hrs or can I get away with doing it less frequentlly.

Hi Sneezy,

I would advise that you should keep adding as you have during the cycle. This will help increase the resilience of the bacteria colony for you do get your fish.

You could get away with adding less, but i don't see the point risking it, to be honest.

Agreed. In fact, at the very end like this, you very much want the larger steady amts of amm going in.

Yep... keep feeding it as "normal" then stop 24 hours before adding fish, or do a large water change.
