hello!

thought i would stick up some pics.

this is my first real planted tank. i am pretty bad at trying to get plants in any sort of arrangement hah!

this is it a couple of weeks ago after adding some some plants and i just had put in a Red Sea CO2 contraption. Also got the big flashy lights up the top, they actually still have the marine lamps in them (14000k) as i cant for the life of me find anyone local that is selling good T5 lamps! only Aqua Medic ones which i read were crap, but i might have to give them a shot. So its only ever half turned on, i have another 18W ~6400k light aswell. These are on for about 10hours a day.

this is it now. 2 1/2 weeks later. with 1 added plant (the red thing) and a bit of moving about of the plants after they got pretty big.

i'm not a terribly good photographer. hah!

the tank is 150 liter (40US gallon) the substrate is this horrible looking gravel that came with the tank, i added some nicer looking gravel over the top of it to make it a bit thicker.

Plants:
Nymphoides Aquatica
Anubias Barteri
Anubias nana
Microsorum pteropus
Echinodorus Amazonicus
Hygrophila Polysperma
Riccia fluitans (on two rocks and more in that white mesh up the top right)
Bacopa Caroliniana
Cabomba Caroliniana
Eleocharis Parvula (just floating about the place at the moment hehe)
Lilaeopsis brasiliensis (i think, got it for free with an order, its not doing much. hah! you can see it more in the first pic)
Blyxa aubertii (came as a bonus with an order, was almost dead, looking better now)
Cryptocoryne of some kind (looks like wendtii but it isnt)
mystery red plant that i dont know what it is called.

i have far more plants than i thought! haha!

anyway, ive planted one of the hairgrass pots into the substrate the other is waiting for me to do something with it. The Anubias Barteri on the wood at the right is my fav plant, its pretty happy!

Fish:
5 Harlequin Rasbora
1 Kuhli Loach
3 Golden Chinese Algae Eaters (soon to be back at the fish shop. These have really cleaned the tank up tho!)
1 mystery snail

any comments/criticisms welcome!

Hugh

:D

EDIT: changed the second pic! hehe!

hah yeah it is. its pretty sturdy, but i have been looking for some extra legs to wack in the middle.

camera setting makes it stand out heaps. its not really _that_ bad in real life! :p

Much better after the re-scape :) give it time to fill out and it should look even better :)

yeah right on.

going to prune the tall stupidly fast growers on the left again and replant them. want that to be a propper jungle! heheh.

i dig how the riccia is growing on the spuds.

wish i had more of a nack for layout. hah.

cheers for looking!

:D

hugh

ive had DYI CO2 running off a 2ltr bottle full of gelatin and sugar for like 2 months. its still caining the gas out! must have been a good mix haha!

anyway. i gave it a mega prune and moved stuff about. looks a bit better. still need to plant that other hairgrass pot lol. riccia went nuts. anubias is flowering like crazy. fireheads love it in there.

Tank looks like it's going well! Nice and green! What's happened to the red plant and all that riccia?

What is that in the front right? Can't tell if it's something like moss tied to wood?

thanks!!

that's the riccia front right!! got it tied to two stones. its completely out of control. haha.

omg look at the riccia huhuhuh! anyone need any? :p

shot as of today. photo quality isnt that good. camera must have been on some wacky setting.

That needs a prune! madness! Is it dwarf riccia? I would happily take some dwarf riccia off your hands!
