I don't like how many of you say don't keep a male and female together unless breeding. It depends on the fish, I have had a male and a female living together at one point. But see I would not say to anyone put a male and female together but I think its what the betas think.

If you want dead fish thats your problem, they will almost 100% fight and hurt each other, same with 2 males even 2 females can kill eachother as has happened to me.

i have females together, there's some bullying at feeding time, but other than that, they're fine.

i wouldn't keep two males or a male and a female together though.

ive kept 2 female with 1 male together and one of the females turned out male! They were fine though.I found out after the male died form dropsey

ive kept male and female together and not had any problems, but i wouldnt recoment it. my old vt male would occasionaly flare at the female as if to remind her who is boss. but the two males i have now i would not trust with my female

Eventually you WILL end up with a dead fish. No need to get mad at the people on here for giving GOOD advice.

seems as though some people have done it sucessfully. you won't always end up with a dead fish.

i wouldn't do it, but i do see your point. it all depends on the fish.

Well why take the chance? If it will more then likely cause problems or even death why bother to do it? I woudl never test out such bad chances just to prove a point.

did i say i would? no, i clearly stated i wouldn't. why do people put bettas in with other fish to take the chance? things will work out there fine sometimes, too. i see no difference. it's all a viewpoint.

it really depends on the fish i have had my male betta in with five other female, he was about three and he never flared and did great with them. and i dont see how you could get mad at the people in here for trying to help out becuase in most cases yeah you will end up with dead fish.

if you say you will usually end up with a dead fish, why'd you put yours in with females?
it all depends on the fish and the person's view point. it's an opinionated question. end of story.

well tropicalmistx if you take a good look at what i wrote i said in most cases, not all. and my betta could be trusted with them sense he is older and i had had him for a while.
