Hi guys, any idea what this reddish lump is that has appeared on one side of my RTBS, just behind (or possibly over part of) his gills?

Sorry about the photo quality, he doesn't stay still for long!

hmmm dunno!!!

Has his behaviour changed at all?? Is he still eating the same and swimming the same?

Yup, everything about him is the same except for the lump. Doesn't seem bothered by it at all. Thanks for the reply.

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Lumps can be bacterial, tumours, viral, parasites.

Is the lump filled with fluid.
Any signs of excess mucas on fish body or gills, flicking and rubbing, darting, erratic swimming, laboured breathing or gasping.

The tank is 110 litres, ammonia is 0, nitrite is 0, nitrate is approx 15, pH reads as 7.6 on the standard API test, but 8.0 on the high range one (takes yer pick).

Stocking is:

2 x Clown loach
1 x RTBS
3 x Peppered cory
1 x Hillstream Loach
3 x Otocinclus
2 x Bolivian Ram
1 x SAE
2 x American flagfish
1 x red eye red tail puffer.

I know it's overstocked at present, but I have a 5ft tank cycling right now that some/most of these fish will be moving into. Also, none of the potentially large fish are, in fact, large at present so it's not quite as bad as it might seem.

Not sure if this is related, but the shark is doing something that I haven't noticed before. He's spending more time stationary at the bottom of the tank and his body keep starting to tip over towards the side that the lump is on before he corrects it and pushes himself upright again. Looks a bit odd......for him anyway, the clowns do that type of thing all the time, but not him!

Your tank is overstocked.

I suppose you can't issolate.
Anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

Okay thanks, I've got that so will do a water change and start it in the morning. Overstocking will be sorted as soon as my new tank has completed it's fishless cycle.

Good Luck.

I trapped a cory in my syphon a while ago and it got a lump like this. Has he had any knocks of bumps recently?
Hmm, not that I've noticed, but then I am out at work in the day during the week. I was just about to do a water change and add the medicine and think I'll still continue to be on the safe side. I've used the same medicine before and it didn't seem to have any adverse effects on any of my fish so I guess I've got nothing to lose by trying it.
