I noticed a lump under one of my cories,i wonder if anyone can help please
I thought she might've been carrying eggs but not has the case may be.
Tank 55 gal
ammonia/nitrite 0,nitrate 20

Here's pics

Can you issolate the cory. As if its bursts it can infect the tank.

Is the lump hard or soft like filled with fluid.
Any redness to the lump.
Has the lump just suddenly appeared.

All you can do is try a bacterial med in issolation.
Lumps can be caused by parasites, bacterial, tumours, viral.

I can't really isolate the cory, has i've nowhere to put it.

Lump looks soft has though filled with fluid
No redness
Only just noticed the lump so not sure how long its been there.
Cory appears active has usual,

I've just treated the tank with interpet 9,anti bacteria meds has a few platies had stringy poo.

Should i try again?

Ok.

Long stingy white poo can be constipation, bacerial infection, internal parasites.

What do you feed the fish.
Feed some shelled peas.

I feed the fish on tetra flakes/tetramin prima/sinking pellets, frozen bloodworm/ freeze dried daphnia/brineshrimp.these are alternated during the week and not all at the same time, the flakes and prima which is their main diet.
Recently they had cooked de shelled broad bean and pea.

I'm getting concerned now has the lump appears to have part bursted, there's what looks like something(skin?)hanging and the lump looks smaller but is still there.

But i think i'm getting paranoid now has all the cories seem to be just sat there and not wiggling about like they normally do.

Am i worried unduly about the rest?
Should i do a w/c and add meds?
I could try and catch the cory and put her in a floating trap, but she will still be in the tank.

Poor thing.
Are you sure its skin and not a organ or parasite. Just need to make sure.

Yes I would now add a bacterial med to the tank.

Is it possible to buy some frozen foods.

I tried catching the wee thing, but it keeps shooting off and hiding, apart from dismantling the tank....

Anyway i tried to see it earlier, not sure whats hanging, and i'm sure i seen another cory from the same batch i bought with an identical lump but smaller??

They're back to their lively selfs, even spawning again!just found eggs.

I will do a w/c in the morning and add bacterial meds and see what happens.

I have frozen bloodworm and brineshrimp which i defrost in tank water before i give it too them, anything else you would suggest please?

Frozen daphnia is very good. it helps the fish digest it's food.

Thanks wilder, :good:

I will get some tomorrow,

I have done a w/c today and added anti bacteria meds,so will see what happens, corys still very active and lump hasn't changed and doesnt appear to be bothering her?!

Bless him.
Keep us updated.
Good Luck.
