I got some ludwigia off someone a little while ago...it lost a lot of leaves but started new growth.

one stem however lost all it's new leaves except the little buds of new leaves at the top..then the stem turned brown, and it seemed to get looser and looser in the substrate, and then just floated away eventually. now another stem is doing it..is there something i need to do to? or does just not switch tanks well sometimes? cause there is one stem that seems to be doing well

first pic is stem that's starting to brown and die, 2nd is the one that seems to be doing ok.

oh and 1.5 wpg, flourite substrate. dosing "florinmulti" 2 drops a day. it's like a trace mix i guess..no co2.

no i'm not.. i thought that my lighting would be low enough i wouldn't need co2. but lately i've been reconsidering this. as my wisteria isn't doing that well either...it's growing, and grows new leaves at the top, but all the ones below die.

I'm considering getting a bottle of excel..but someone told me it will kill one of the plants in the tank...valis? or subwassertang?

thanks for the reply waterdrop, check out my journal for more info if you're curious, it's in the planted journals.

Yes, I was wondering if that was your situation. I use Excel. I think it really does move you a step beyond the "super-slow nothing" of a low-light tank where hardly anything is dosed. And yes, you are right the "melt" issue is real. Its good to take the time to understand which species you think -might- melt and be prepared for that.

I read a lot of good back threads on "Excel" here on TFF before I made my decision, there's lots of good stuff.
