I;m glad you;ve posted that Alasse as I;m trying to achieve something similar with my 5ft but am a total plant newbie!!

It looks fab. what plants do you have in there and what lighting do you have? What do you add to the water to help the plants grow?

I;m getting really interested in the planted tanks as I don;t think much else looks better

Simon

Thanx simonas

Plants - Java fern, Crypts, Swords, Hygro, Elodea, Anubias & an unknown
Lighting is a Single 4ft T8 & 1x 2ft T5 (one each side)
I add nothing to the water :)

very cool im also glad as im trying to achieve the same with my 5ft soon

you surprise me that you don;t add much to the water as it looks fab

how long has it been set up in this planted way? how long do you have your lights on for daily?

Simon

What a stunning tank!! :hyper: :good:

I think I am going to have to use you and your tank as my inspiration as my tank refuses to play nice :grr:

I have a 5 footer, with a T8 and a T5 and a Co2 cannister but nothing will grow except the crypts and the java fern
so come new year I am thinking of ripping out the others (before they completely rot!) and upping the crypts (as some have grown superbly in a short time already!) and let my ferns grow into the ornaments to make it look dense. It won't be a patch on your tank but I'll be happy if I can at least have a tank full of plants that aren't rotting

Thank you :D

simonas ~ It suprises many :) The tank was setup on the 11th Oct 2010. Had a VERY rocky start with the cycle, i wont get into the details as it may offend some. But after some weeks is now doing beautifully. Lights are on for 8-9hours daily.

Ferg ~ Your tank will be fabulous i'm sure. You just need to experiment and find the plants that work for you :)
