Have a Juwel Vision 260, with 2 x 38 Watts

So thats 58 gallons with 76 Watts. Now, im no genius but thats low BUT thats what juwel give as a standard.

Thats 1.33333 WPG. How can i get this higher without buying a huge liminaire and scrapping my hood?

i am not sure how much room the hood gives you, but whatever you can fit inside the light area, do that.

I would take it apart, and change everything but the reflector if its pretty good. I would then buy a ballast and the endcaps, and fit a powercompact.
Make sure the ballast and endcap is for powercompacts.

or buy a retrofit kit. www.ahsupply.com has some nice ones and not to bad prices. just figure out the dimensions that you have to work with

I'll second ahsupply, I recently bought four of their 96 watters and was impressed by the speed of shipment, the ease of installation, and the overalll quality of the product. Their reflector is amazing lots more light into the aquarium.

Can i not purchase teh tubes (42") with a higher wattage?

Also i have no reflectors yet. Do they make a real difference?

Reflectors make a huge difference. If half the light from your bulb goes away from your tank, then the reflector will send most of that back into the tank.

As far as I know, most tubes come with a specific watt for the lenghts. Unless you get into power compact lighting. So if you have, say, 21" bulbs, the standard wattage is the same for all 21" bulbs.
