I have a 33 gal, front hex. It is 36 inches long, 18 inches high, and i have only a 20 watt full spectrum bulb on it. I really dont have alot of money now, and i would like to know if there are any plants that can grow under this really low lighting. I would like to have java moss, java ferns, and maybe some anubis if the lighting isnt too low. I have some plant fertilizer, Florish and Florish excel. Would these plants be able to grow in the low lighting, and are there any other plants that can?

There are various types of cryptocorynes as well as anubias that will do well in your tank.

Hornwort is another popular choice, but I haven't had much luck with it. The needle like leaves always seem to die on me, and cause such a mess to clean up.

HTH.

ive found vallis to do well in shaded part of the tank - it doesnt grow as fast as some, the runners are slower at forming, but it look very healthy.

Ok, thanks. So, what i am planning on putting in the tank now is some java moss, anubis plants (not sure which type), and maybe anarchis(?). I dont think i can put java ferns in there because one of my fish eats plants, and i heard that java ferns are poisonis, so if he decides to take a bite, he could get sick.

Java Fern is not eaten by many plant eating species. Your fish will not die if you put it in your tank.

Most Anubias species will survive in low light, some will almost survive in the dark. They are very slow growing of course, typically in low light, a few leaves a year.

Egeria densa, (Anacharis), really needs at least some light - it gets very long and straggly in poor light. Worth a try as it is common and cheap.

Yeah so ill get some anubis, nana and bartoli or whatever. Ill get java moss, java ferns, and some anarchis. If it doesnt look well in the 33 gal, i have a 5 gal that im going to load full of plants, it has 18 watts.
the fish is a Distichodus noboli
