It's just now when it hit me... if my veiltail betta died, I would miss him horribly.
Before now I never really thought about it, but I think I've become really attached to him, I'm sure I'll cry when he dies. I hope he lives a nice long life though... maybe I can keep him alive to 5 years!
He's real healthy so it's looking up! I got him from a pet store, and he didn't appear to have damaged fins, but right now they appear to be "growing back". I suspect they took a scissors to his fins or something, because they are definitely growing, with a funny little mark where the old fin used to end.
Just wanted to share my revelation... I've never had to deal with a pet dying but I know that bettas don't live that long. I wonder what sort of horror I've gotten myself into -

you get used to it darling its called "life". you look after your fishy and love him and when he has gone you will have nothing to blame yourself for but memories of what a lovely life he had.
