Hi all, New to the forums... so I thought Id start off by sharing pictures of my tanks. I currently have 4 tanks, 3 freshwater and 1 new saltwater I am starting up. Ill add some brief descriptions of their inhabitiants.

Tank 1 - 28G bowfront. This tank has been running for about 8months. Eco-complete substrate, lava rock, collected beach rocks, Diy yeast CO2, 90watt power compact, marineland 150 filter. Lots of live plants. Fish: 1x half black angelfish, 5x serpae tetras, 5x red-eyed tetras, 10x lamp (blue-eyed) tetras, 2x chinese algae eaters, 3x honey gouramis (1M/2F), 1x sailfin molly, 1x common pleco, 1x millstream loach, a family of japonica shrimp. Everyone gets along really well!

Most recent, moved some plants around.

Tank 2 - 29G Rectangle. A work in progress, and a little overstocked right now, but the fish are still young/small. Everyone does get along and feeds very well, no territory issues. I am moving all of them to my 60G Long tank coming next month and scrapping the 29G. This tank is 4months old. Marineland 150 filter, 20w standard lighting. Some hardy low light demand plants, gravel substrate. Water is stained by tannins from the wood. Fish: 4x Angels (2x zebra, 1x pearl marble, 1x gold veil), 3x Rainbows (2x bose mani, 1x red), 2x albino corys, 3x large bleeding heart tetras, 1x black skirt tetra, 5x silver-tip tetras, 2x diamond tetras, 1x pearl gourami, 2x ghost shrimp, 1x red-claw crab, 1x albino pleco.

The most current.

Probably the most territorial species in the tank, especially at feed time, none is allowed anywhere near the bottom, except the pleco, cory and the crab.
Peaceful huh? this guy nearly killed another bolivian ram before i traded him back to the LFS immediately!

No one messes with the Crab. He only tolerates the pleco and the corys near him. He escaped my tank once, and i found him in my living room hangin out behind the couch.

Tank 3 - 36G bowfront saltwater, still pretty new so not many pics. 38lbs of marshall island, fiji and a tonga branch cured live rock. The newly added hermit crabs have already started munching away the Dinoflagellate/hair algae I started having. Fish: 3x blue-green chromis. Planned fish: 1x Coral beaty, 1x royal gamma, 1x percula clown, 1x diamond goby, Pistol shrimp and maybe some soft corals eventually.

I also have a 10G freshwater tank, its nothing remarkable and Im tearing it down soon and merging its inhabitants with Tank 2 after the 60G is up and running. Fish: 1x Otocinclis, 1x flying fox, 1x dwarf female gourami, 1x blind cave tetra, 1x clown pleco, 2x ghost shrimp, 1x a little black molly (I got as a fry from a LFS that was about to feed it to a cichlid tank).

And finally, I saved these two guys from certain death as live food from their feeder tank prison. They helped me break in my first tank. They now happily reside in my office and serve as our office mascots. :)

Thanks for the wonderful comments. The past year has been an awesome learning experience, ever since i discovered my tropical fish obscession/hobby!

hi

great tanks

just one word red clawed crabs are NOT fresh water they are brackish, they should be kept at approx 1.04 SG

truck

I soon found out this about a week after I purchased him, your absolutely correct. Ive looked into this online and in some books, and apparently they can live in freshwater, but it shortens their lifespan somewhat. Ive had him for about 4 months, he seems to be doing well, but time will tell. They apparently also like to surface occasionally too. He climbs up the heater on the far right and perches himself on top of the magnet cleaner for hours. I suppose thats how he escaped, but ive taken measures to seal up the canopy more.

I thought he died once when I saw him sitting in the same spot for 2 days... till I realized he was just fine, but had shed his entire shell as one whole piece for a new one.

haha thats made me laugh =]
I really wish i could have a crab but id be worried that it would nip my other fish!

ps the blue angel is beautiful!

You know that's pretty unlikely, since he only gets onry if someone gets right next to him. he's no where near as fast to harm any of the fish. It's just funny to watch! He totally ignores the pleco, shrimps and the corys which are solely bottom feeders.

is that angel really blue or have you played with the Hue in photoshop?

Nope, no photoshopping whatsoever. My lfs got a shipment of really vigourous healthy angels and called me in. That particular one had the most blue. One of his tankmates I also took home isn't as blue but still quite nice.
