Lots Of Powercuts!

Last night at around 9, the power suddenly went out and I was pretty worried about my tanks. Luckily, by morning everything was back on again, but apparently there have been several small ones during the day, too.

If I was to have a long power cut, what would you suggest doing? Since it's been quite warm recently, I'd only really be worried about the filter media rather than the overall temperature of the tank. Is there any way I could keep it alive or would I have to just let it go and have a fish-in cycle?

The filter media will still be wet so loss in 24hrs will be minimal at best, nothing the filter cant catch up on. In my experince powercuts only last a few hours unless they a pre planing work. In the winter you can lag the tank and you can buy powerheads that will keep water flow that run on batterys if your want some water movement(they are very poor IMO)

I keep having these too. I'm trying to cycle my 10G again and every time I leave for the weekend I come back to it running with no water its quite irritating

There's a device for that. Think Warehouse Aquatics had something plugs in like an RCD and resumes power when the power returns.

As to power cuts overall, you'll be fine for several hours. Mine went overnight without power with no ill effect.

Ebay seller golfmanholeinone sells battery operated air pumps for £3.49 from UK seller. I got a couple of these just in case. It was suggested to me to keep filter media in a bucket with air pump running, but I would be tempted to just put air pump on tank tbh.
