Lots Of Dirt On My Tank Toys.

i was looking at my tank last night, with my betta in it. and was wondering what the heck was all the little bits of (looks like dirt) over everything. it that fish poo?

if what i am thinking it might be brown algea its easy to get rid off wash your ornaments and what ever it is on IN TANK WATER if its on the glass then ust wipe it off and dont keep the lights on as much during the day then it will eventually go i had this trouble with one of my tanks but it went soon enough

wait a minute, if this is the problem.. and it could be, because i do leave my light on over night usually. does this mean an Oto could survive in there now?

OUCH so you have your light one 24/7? That would explain everything and it sound to me like its black algae.

you should really have your light on for 8-10 hours a day to keep algae down.

no my light is ONLY on at night.. so probably about 10 hours a day, maybe a bit more.

cut it down to 5-6 hours a day until you get ahold on the algae issue.
