Out of my Four Betta's I've lost three in about two weeks. These three were in my brand new three way Betta tank, which was filtered and heated. The first Betta appeared to have sbd and died quite quickly. The second Betta I'd removed from the tank early on as he was having trouble with the currents, so I put him in a Betta barracks in a tropical tank with a much slower filter, he also appeared to get sbd, and died. Then this last Betta, he'd been fairly quiet, but I just figured it was because of him having no one to look at and nothing to do. I found him dead this morning.

All the bettas were happily eating up until they died, I don't think it's ammonia build up that caused it, as three teeny Bettas in a ten gallon tank cant cause that much ammonia in that small a timne surely, I also had ammonia rocks in there just in case. Could some type of infection been rsponsible for this? My last Betta has gone really quiet too now, I seriously hope I don't lose him as well, he's not in the tank the other Bettas were in. He's in a Betta Barracks in a tropical tank.

Any help'd be appreciated

How are the water parameters? I this is a brand new tank did you do a fishless cycle?

No, I used filter material from one of the petstores tanks, which was very overstocked.

I just checked the ph, (Our old kit was giving really odd results, so we only just bought a new one) and somehow it's gone to 6.2, whereas my other tanks are at 7 and 7.2. The last betta that died mustve been in the tank overnight, could that have lowered the ph?

I dont believe that it will lower the ph it would in turn cause an ammonia spike. How often do you change the water? You should be doing a 25-30% change at least once a week.

And you should have let the tank cycle for a couple days even though you had the mature media.
