I took a break for about 2 years. At one point i had about 10 tanks, now i have 3 (and two are betta tanks!)

im assuming your quite young,its not unusuall to get fed up with routine,

That made me laugh - I had a child and still hate that damn word 'routine'

personally i prefer setting up the tank and designing it, doing all the aquascaping etc. the fish and maintence are also fun but not as much

Know how you feel. I'm only keeping 2 tanks running but have ups and downs with it all. I really enjoy aquascaping so enjoying ripping everything out and starting again every so often to keep my interests up. Buying new plants and bits every so often helps break the routine as well. I also return fish to LFS when I get bored of them and go for something else.
