Tonight i have found the skeletal remains of a fish, either a guppy or a neon tetra, Ive had a head count of the tank and can confirm a guppy, neon tetra and the clown loach have gone missing... surely dalmation mollies, guppies, bleeding heart tetras or neon tetras would not have eaten the clown loach (who was 1 1/2 inches) but it too has vanished without a trace.

any ideas?

Do you have any decorations in your tank that it could have either got stuck or just hiding in???

i got a few floatin plants and a large rocky structure, but ive lifted em up and shook em about, but still no signs of missing fishes

It's quite possible they died for whatever reason/reasons and THEN they got eaten?
Sorry for your loss anyway.

Got up this morning, and the neon and clown loach have reappeared.... Im assuming the remains where one of my female guppies as I had 3 alike and can still only count one.

Most likely it died and then got eaten and/or its body decayed (happens really quickly with a small fish). You now need to check your water stats (ammonia and nitrites) as the death may have been caused by a water problem in the first place and a decaying body is likely to affect the water. I always do a partial water change anyway after a death even if the readings seem ok.
