Hi all,

I noticed this morning that I could only see one of my Clown Loaches!

I left it until this evening, with school and all..and still couldnt see skinny ( I call it skinny coz when i got it, there was another one that was bigger..so i call them skinny and fatty lol ) anywho..

I was cleaning my tank out this evening and I have all real plants in and some slate and an artificial log thing..and I moved it all and looked through the plants..scraped the gravel about ( whilst vaccing it ) and even though i dont think it could get in my Juwel filter i looked anyway..couldnt see it..

Any ideas?

Thanks, D.

Could it have jumped out? Do you have any animals in the house that may have ate it if it had jumped out? Do you have any fish in your tank that may have ate it? I had the same thing happen to me about a year ago with a black ghost knife. I never did find it or find out what happened to it.

Thanks for the ideas, BUT this morning all was revealed..

My sister was polishing her shoes in our utility room and and it is literally 10 metres from my tank, and I had evrything closed, no lids open or anything..when she started screaming my name so I went downstairs and she was at the bottom of the stairs with the loach in a plastic bowl of water...my first Q to her was where is that water from!? she said the tap..meaning COLD WATER (ARRGH) so i snatched it off her and ran to my tank and put it in..it was VERY stunned..it wasnt moving in the bowl and I thought the worse..so anyway it just fell to the bottom of my tank and didnt move for about a minute..fins..barbels..ANYTHING! and then i saw a few bubbles come out of its gills and I just though oh **it... and I was already late at it was and I was thinking OK i really need to go now..but i could see that it was breathing...all be it VERY fastly so i stayed and then after 5/10 mins it moved its fins and moved very slowly moved to the back of tank..where it was met very quickly by its tank mate.. but the worst bit is..i really dont know how it got out to the front of the tank..the only hole is at the back where the wires are allowed out..and that is quite small..:S

Anywho thanks anyway..

Hows the loach now bless him.

Whitespot can be fetched into a tank by another fish.
Parasites can also come in on live plants.

Well about 2 weeks ago I added 6 guppies and 2 Fighter Fish ( Siamese..and yes i though about it and they have been FINE ) surely it would be a problem like a day after?

Thanks, D.

If the fighting fish are male betta's not meant to keep them in the same tank as they will fight to the death.
Whitespot can lay dorimant but that usually saltwater whitespot not fresh water.
Parasites start to do the damage when a fish is stressed.

Hell no! They are females..

I may be new to fishkeeping..but I spent about 2 weeks reseaching them.. lol

Ok that's fine then if there females.
Though females do better in larger groups I think to keep the aggression down.
