Ok ya'll. I lost a marble goby last night and I'm worried about the reason for it's death. I have one more and I do not want to lose it. Anyway, the little guys spine was messed up, I didn't know if it had hit the glass real hard or what, but someone on a different forum said it could me whirling disease which scares me for the sake of my remaining marble goby. How do I tell if it was whirling or just a freak accident?? Here are some pics..

That stuff is in the original post..

I didn't see him darting anywhere as they are gobies.. they just lay around and wait on food. I did notice it was not there one day and the next day it was.

If the spine was bent you could be dealing with internal parasites to fish tb.
Was the fish skinny losing weight.
Sorry about the stats did look at them the first time, but when you replyed forgot.

When you say his spine was all messed up can you describe it.
Spinal deformation Genetic, vitamin deficiency, calcium deficiency, tuberculosis, Ichthyosporidium.

Need to look at what you are feeding your fish.

Umm.. I'm assuming the spine is messed up based on what it looks like. I don't know for sure exactly what caused it's tail to curve off. As for food I was feeding it frozen raw shrimp and rosies, but mostly froze raw shrimp.

Need a better diet.
Do a search on the fish and it will tell you there diet needs.
My plec had a bent tail he died, though he was bloated as well put it down to a bacterial infection.

Not a whole lot of info on this fish.. I'm allergic to most LFS frozen foods so my selection is limited.. I'm going to start feeding worms and beefheart as well.

Do they eat veg, not familar with this type of fish.

As far as I know they do not.. they mainly only eat meat. They eat anything that fits in it's mouth and they eat almost their weight in food per day.

Here is a couple links about them.. not much else beyond this unless your looking to buy bulk quantities to eat.

Meat eaters, no harm improving there diet.
Just keep an eye on the other fish with the one dying with a deformed spine.
Good luck.
