 My axolotle (Spud) has had its arm bitten off by its tank-mate, another axolotl (Dave)!!!

I know they are very good at rejenerating lost limbs and organs etc, but is there anything i can do to help her (APART FROM REMOVING THE ATTACKER).

Spud is 10 inches long and lives in a sand substrated 24X12X12 inch decently planted tank With Dave the 8 inch axolotl (how i loath him  )

Please HELP!

Not an awful lot you can as it is still not known how they regenerate the way they do, just wait. (Interesting fact: Though most axolytls never reach the adult stage if they do so they can no longer regenrate their limbs). Don't be cross with Dave, it's just nature, if they stayed together I should think at some point Dave would lose a limb aswell, they are not amazingly social and need quite a large area to live together in any form of harmony.

it will take longer to grow back as theyre adult but if the wound looks like its bleeding etc or just sore then you can put him in 2 litres of water with 2tsps of non iodised salt for ten mins once-twice a day. if he seems really bad you can put them in the fridge. when you do salt baths though make sure the water is the same temp as the fridge water he is staying in
