I'm steadily losing the 6 Zebra Danios which I introduced to my tank when it was cycling (October last). Could it be that's the reason. Their stomach goes hollow and they start to lose swimming control before they die. I will never do a cycling with fish again. Could it be another disease? Any thoughts?

it could be the effects of exposure to ammonia... i dont know really... :rip: though, it's sad :(

Hollow stomach... that sounds like fish TB, which is pretty hard to get rid of and can also get transmitted to humans. If this happens to every fish (hollow stomach), then that's a hint at it but not sure.

Just read a really scary article about fish TB and how we can catch it! Says about wearing gloves all the time and how you can catch it through the smallest of scratches on the skin. Are there many recorded cases of aquarists catching it does anyone out there know?

Fish TB was discussed recently in another thread about wearing gloves when entering the tank.

I think the view of most is that its so rare no-one bothers. The number of reported cases is incredibly low.

The hollow stomach isnt necessarily an indicator of fish TB, it can be an indicator of internal parasites also.

Do they eat well? If they eat well, but still waste away then it's possibly internal parasites of some kind.
