Hi my dad has a tropical tank that has been set up for about a year and he has had 6 odessa barbs since it has been set up, over past couple of days he has lost 3 and then just a minute ago another just died in front of us, we have had the water tested and everything is fine, no other fish have died so i am just wandering what this could be as it is only effecting these fish. Thanks

What temp was the tank set at? Odessa Barbs are temperate fish that should spent most of the year at the cooler end of their temp scale (20C) with a "summer season" approaching 26C. I'm hopeless at identifying fish illnesses, but I'm wondering if these fish have died through premature old age, due to a permanently hightened metabolism.

Thanks for that, the tank is set at 24c but that has been the case since they have been in there and they have been healthy with a really nice colour red on them. Its just weird that it is only those fish that are dying, 4 in 3 days. Some have lost there colour but others seem fine, i will keep an eye over the next few days but there doesn't seem to be any illness in the tank, as you say it might just be old age as all 6 were brought from the same batch and were older when we got them. Thanks for your help.
