Losing Interest

Well it's got to that stage in my fish keeping where i'm just not as happy with my tanks as i used to be. Due to time and space constraints i have limited myself to 3 tanks although i could squeeze in a few more but i want to keep my maintinance as easy as possible, mostly because i have to use the bucket systam -_-

for water changes. i currently have running 20gall community, 12gall divided for male bettas and 9 gall female betta sorrority with tank mates (uk gallons

)
So my decision is to take the plunge into amphibians and inverts by trading in my community stock (except my BN who will be residing in the 12gall cos i'm far too attatched to her) for 2 albino ACF's, it's a big step but i really feel i need something to interest me more and i just don't know of any fish thats would fit in my 20gall that give me that personal interaction

Today is my last day before i take the plunge so if anyone knows of any fish that may fit the criteria i would certainly be interested... sorry about the useless drivel :blush:

Instead of trading it all in , why don't you hang off a bit and weigh up some alternatives, if you do fancy a change, have you thought about a small cihlid tank or a small shellie tank ?
You could maybe see if they could spawn then sell them on or trade them for equipment or LFS store credit, is this something that's not your cup of tea. I had a community tank and I do miss it, I just didn't balnce it well and I'm hopeless with plants, a small shellie tank is intersting to watch and I find my small cichlids come over to the glass when I'm looking in or in the evening I find them at the glass mooching, then when the lid goes back it's a hyperactive frenzy , and that's before the food goes in lol.
This probably won't help but hope you find something in my useless drivel,,, :lol:

I'd say ditch the community tank in search of a more specific breed of fish, or a more challenging fish to keep. I have Discus (which are unfortunately to large for a 20gallon) and they take a ton of work, which is quite a pain, but the rewards of keeping them are awesome. Maybe try a pair of Bolivian Rams or something, they can be quite needy at time but are very pretty.

Also, hows the 12 gallon divided? If its in 2 halves then it probably isn't enough room for the Bristlenose

haha indeed i've got dwarf cichild i'm afraid and i find them very shy, my tank is moderately planted too with alot of hiding places due to my wood and rocks, i'll be sad to see them go :sad:

but keeping fish with ACF's just isnt really an option as when the frogs grow they eat anything that will fit in their mouths and they can get quite hefty (5-7 inches) i work in an LFS so i see alot of fish and none of the average communities and such are taking my fancy lately. I like things with size to them with personality, oscars and sevs are a favourite but again thats just not an option in a 20gal tank :lol:

go into a new side of the hobby? something challenging like serious planted tanks or marine tanks. they have the instant wow factor when guests come into your house!
