looks like I am getting a 200 gal tank for christmas ( one apeared in the garage, mhhhh). Anways any ideas on what to do?
stock etc........

Hi there, congrats!

I would say sand/bog wood, smooth stones and plants, then a nice community of Pim pictus catfish!

OR

Go original - cool water tank with smooth stone/twisted root planted river style biotope, with weather loaches, hong kong plecos and white clouds :>

hmm a 200gallon tank huh? hmmm well what about a nice community based set-up, heavily planted, full CO2 system, bogwood and rocks with a sand substrate and for stocking fish wise... Small, colorful fish, like neon tetras, rummy nosed tetras, flame tetras, cory catfish, oto cats, a couple flying foxes and some rainbow fish as centre pieces.

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo awsome! I would either have a community tank or a african cichlid tank! Good luck!

Yeah I agree, a nice big african cichlid tank would look nice, even a central or south american cichlid tank would be good :)

Arowana and rays. Check out MFK their tanks are SICK!!!

That tank isn't big enough for an Arowana, and if the tank isn't at least 30 inches wide, it won't be good for a ray either.

I'd say you do a paludarium, planted amazonian biotope. Stick a dart frog species and hourglass tree frogs on the land, and have fun picking local fish species from fishbase.

That sounds awesome, I would go with chichlids, but I have never kept them, same with the discus ( beautiful though... :good: ). I will be posting pics when I start on it (maybe next year........... )

I was going to recommend african rift-lake cichlids, but you don't fancy them, so.......................

What about a shoal of Red-Bellied Piranha, lots of bogwood and floating plants. :good:

heavily planted hillside with different kinds of tetra, variety of corys and 6-7 oto's :)

substrate sand, mopani/bog wood

Sounds like and excellent reason why you SHOULD try them :) whats the fun in getting a new much larger tank if its just going to be more of what you already have? lol

Personly id either go African cichlid, discus or reef, none of which ive done yet but cant wait to try :)
