Looking For Small Top Zone Dwellers

In my tank at the moment I have:

8 neon tetras
7 galaxy rasboras (when i see them)
9 golden white mountain minnows
6 otos
6 bee shrimp (somewhere)

obviously the otos stay at the bottom, but the others all seem to spend most of the time in the bottom 2 thirds of the tank. Anyone able to offer a good small community fish thats a surface deweller?

what are the tank dimensions? and any known water stats such as pH, temp etc

1st idea would be dwarf gourami, but depends on tank size etc

What about hatchets? There are a few varieties, some smaller than others. The Marbled Hatchet gets to about 1.5 inches. Hatchets pretty much live at the waters surface and are not predatory

Defo go with hatchets. Great little characters. I've got pearl gouramis but they're probably too big for your needs.

1) can you get any interesting colour morphs on hatchet fish?
2) are they any relation to hatchet fish you find in the deep sea? those big ugly things? (im guessing not)

You could try some honey or dwarf gouramis as suggested, or maybe some danios, zebra or gold spotted are really pretty IMO.
Hatchets are lovely looking fish and the silver ones look really striking once they get to a good size

1 - There are no 'colourful' versions of the hatchets. They may not be much to look at in photos, but check them out next time you're in a lfs (fairly common). They are very unique and look good in a group.

2 - they are from the tetra family, so no relation to the deep-sea sharers of the same name.

You could have a look at some White Cloud Mountain Minnows. Mine always seem to be swimming at the top.

Marble hatchets would work and are fairly colourful.

If you want colour top dwellers, then something like Golden Lyretail Killifish is for you

Pseudomugil furcata (Forktail Blue Eye Rainbowfish) will add some beautiful colour to the upper water, as would Clown Killifish.

sorry about forgetting size i know its very important. tank is 80x30x40
