I'm looking to buy an air pump with air stone for my 60l tank (Juwel rekord 60 tank)

I have looked at all the pumps on a website I have bought from before, but there's a lot of choice and can't decide what is best for my tank.

I'm just looking to buy it to add some extra aeration to tank.

Current fish are :

4 platys
2 guppys
2 corys

Are the Hydor's worth considering?

Just any advice or recommendations on this would be appericated. Thanks.

I've got a tetratec whisper air pump in one of my 6 tanks and it seems quiet enough. I never actually use it though except when I've added med's to the tank, the internal filter causes enough surface disturbance.

Sorry if this sounds patronising but you have got some sort of internal or external filter as well I take it?

get any pump you like. it all depends on what you want to run on it. tank size and stocking have no effect on pump size, in fact, air pumps have no effect, or very little, on the tank environment, only what it looks like.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes the tank does have an internal filter currently.

I have heard that fish like to swim in the bubbles caused by the air stone, and that it is good to ensure there is lots of oxygen in tank. I understand that it is not necessarily a requirement.

Does anyone have experience with the Hydor's that I linked to? They seem quite simple to install as they appear to be a single unit that sits completly in tank, so no need for an external pump or anything. They do them with led colours as well, which I quite like the apperance of. However, I worry that this sort of unit could pose a danger to the fish, or may have other issues(getting easily clogged with stray plant bits etc)
