in my 29 gal tanks i have just goten over ich and im going to wait atleast a week to make sure everything is fine. i ended up lossing all of my tetras. in the tank i know i want to have 1 angel, 2 bolivian rams, 2 german blue rams, 5 corries, and 7 ottos. i want to have a small group of a small shoaling fish but im not sure what to get. i would prefer it to be a shoaling fish from south american(if you cant tell all the fish in the tank will be from there), smallish and wont be threatend by the angel or the rams. ive tried neons but the rams ate them, cardinals are too delicate and glo lites kept getting nipped fins from some one(dont know if it was from each other or another fish. any suggestion you guys have would be great.

I like Harlequin rasboras myself. Ideally they need a fairly long tank to swim up and down as they are very active fish. They shoal well and look great in my opinion. Not sure if they'd become an Angel Scooby Snack though . I know Angels have a bit of a reputation for munching smaller fish though so I don't know.

thanks. i like the harliquins and the flame tetras. are the harliquins from south america?

oh and are there any other suggestions?

harlequin South East Asia.

i dont like the black phantoms much. the giant danios are from asia and get 4 inches and are fast moving. i like em but not what im looking for in my tank. how about serpae tetras? they look nice but ive herd they are fin nippers but then the same is true for tiger barbs and ive never had a prob with them nipping.

Get Flame Tetras!!! oooh go on you know you want to

They're colourful, they shoal, they're always on the go and they'll happily eat anything you offer

I'll show you some better pics once Photobucket is back up ;)

I think you need to rethink your stocking plans. IMO the minimum setup for a pair of breeding cichlids is 20g, sometimes as high as thirty. This still leaves you short by 11g if you wanted both pairs of rams. In addition, I would go with either the angel or one pair of rams, not both. It's great that you want otos, but just to warn you, they require mature tanks with excellent water conditions, and they are rather fickle health-wise. Make sure that you get otos that have been in the LFS a long time. Be prepared to supplement the otos diet with a wafer of some kind, as I doubt you will have enough algae to sustain 7. A 29g is great for a small shoal of schooling fish (tetras), a shoal of corydoras, a shoal of otos, and one pair of Rams. You'll have plenty of movement and you'll have the breeding activity that you want.

What about some Marbled Hatchets. Great shoaling fish from the Amazon and they guarantee you some top of the tank action.

They are a bit sensitive though and I loved them until I lost my entire shoal :-(

Here's that pic I promised B)

I just love Flame Tetra!

i think ill get the flame tetras. theyll add color to the tank. unfortunetly my 2 germans died last night. but ill have an empty 10 gal soon that i can use for just a pair of germans.

hows this for stocking: 1 angel, 2 bolivian rams, 5 corries(2 albino and 3 peppered), 7 ottos, and 11 flame tetras.

note: i already have 1 angel, 2 bolivian rams, 4 corries, and 3 ottos in the tank.

The flame tetra's are nice, i think i will see if i can get hold of them too.
